Sen. Wendy Rogers spoke on the Senate Floor to explain her vote for HCR2018 in the Arizona Senate, which would prohibit the imposition of a Vehicle Mileage Tax (VMT) in Arizona. Said Rogers, “a VMT tax inherently discourages spontaenous movement and exploration, which is what we like to do here among our four counties in rural Arizona.” Rogers also cited the bad economics of VMT taxation, including the steep added cost for the transportation industry.
