SB 1520 – Sharing Immigration Data to Enforce the Law

Senator Wendy Rogers introduced SB 1520 because Arizona state agencies have been operating in silos that prevent effective enforcement of immigration law.

When agencies refuse or fail to share information about immigration status with federal authorities, illegal activity goes undetected and enforcement breaks down. The result is a system that rewards noncompliance and puts Arizona communities at risk.

SB 1520 requires Arizona state agencies to share relevant immigration status information with federal immigration authorities when that information is lawfully obtained. This includes cooperation with agencies such as ICE and CBP.

Without information sharing, individuals who are in the country illegally can pass through state systems without consequences, even after arrests or interactions with government agencies. SB 1520 closes those gaps and ensures that Arizona is not actively obstructing federal enforcement efforts.
