The Arizona Senate has passed SB1058, legislation sponsored by Senator Wendy Rogers to protect the privacy of lawful firearm purchasers.
The bill prevents the creation or use of systems designed to track or flag firearm purchases based on financial transaction data, protecting gun owners from surveillance through payment processing systems.
Supporters say the measure safeguards the privacy and constitutional rights of law-abiding gun owners while preventing financial institutions from creating de facto gun registries.
Senator Rogers introduced the legislation as part of her continued effort to defend the Second Amendment and the privacy rights of Arizona residents.
The bill passed the Arizona Senate on February 27 and later advanced through a House committee on March 4, continuing its progress through the legislative process.
