Vote YES on Prop 319 to BAN Photo Radar. It’s a Scam!

This November, Arizona voters get a long-overdue say on photo radar. I’m asking you to vote YES on Proposition 319 so that we can ban this scam for good.

Right now cities can put up speed cameras and red light cameras without ever asking the people who pay the tickets. Prop 319 changes that so that if a city wants a new camera system, voters have to approve it first. And, if a city already has cameras running, voters get to decide whether they stay, every ten years.

These scam “Photo Radar” systems were never really about safety. Our cities have signed deals with out-of-state camera companies to split the money from every ticket. A machine reviews the footage and decides you owe a fine, with no officer involved and no real chance to explain yourself. One city here in Arizona wrote more than 21,000 tickets in just three months after switching its cameras on. A safety program doesn’t run up numbers like that, but a business built on fines does.

Cities and camera companies have fought hard for years to protect this setup, because the money is too good for them to give up on their own.

Proposition 319 takes that decision away from city councils and camera companies and puts it where it should be: in your hands.

Please vote YES on Prop 319 this November and help end this scam for good!
